This year we will be launching a new online lottery called the Telford and Wrekin Community Lottery. Or Twincl for short.
by Thomas Cox
We recognise that since the austerity measures have been underway by Central Government, the local voluntary and community sector are very often the hardest hit.
Many local community groups and good causes do important work taking care of people’s health and wellbeing in Telford. Launching Twincl will help raise funds for the valuable work these good causes do.
60p from every £1 ticket of Twincl will go direct to charities, voluntary organisations and other good causes.
This 60p is split into two parts. Firstly, good causes will be able to have their own lottery page created, and 50p in every pound spent by players on these webpages will be retained the good causes themselves. Second, a further 10p in every pound will go into a general Twincl good causes fund.
The remainder of every pound spent on the lottery will be put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT. Speaking of prizes, players of the lottery could win a £25,000 jackpot.
How community groups and good causes can get involved
At the moment we are inviting charities and community groups to attend the ‘Good Causes’ launch on Tuesday 22 May, 6.30-8.30pm at Oakengates Theatre.
It will be a great opportunity for people to hear all about the new lottery, how it works, and how good causes can directly benefit from participating.
So far 29 good causes have shown an interest in taking part in Twincl. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to join them and to find out more – sign up to our launch event on Eventbrite now.
If you someone who could benefit benefit from this lottery then please do let them know about the event.
