Carers under pressure #Carersvoice

Developed by carers themselves these new workshops aim to help carers who are feeling overwhelmed and having to juggle caring with other commitments

By Jill Tiernan – All Age Carers Commissioning Officer at Telford and Wrekin Council

Caring for some can feel overwhelming at times.

That’s why I am pleased to have worked alongside carers themselves to develop workshops that aim to take the pressure out of caring.

The workshops will be conducted by carers themselves, who understandably know the pressures that their fellow carers are under better than anyone.

Some of the areas the workshops cover will be:

  • When carers should be seeking support before things become to much
  • Who carers can talk to for help
  • The triggers that cause stress and how to manage them
  • How to balance caring with the pressures of ordinary life
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Providing a space to talk freely in a safe setting

So if you are looking after someone who could not manage without your help I would like to invite you to attend one of these sessions.

You should come along especially if you are feeling overwhelmed or are having to juggle work commitments.

The workshops

All workshops will run from 1pm – 3.30pm.

If you require replacement support for the person you care for so you can attend knowing they are safe, please let us know. Let us know if you might need help with transport as well. Food and Drink, including a lunch, will also be provided.
