Telford sings to NHS and key workers “you’ll never walk alone”

Telford once again gave thanks to key workers by clapping, cheering and singing "you'll never walk alone" as the nation clapped for carers.

This week’s #clapforourcarers was taken to another level in Telford & Wrekin where residents helped show how grateful they were to key workers through not only clapping but by song.

Residents came out of their front doors, stood in their gardens and opened their windows to song the emotional words of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ by Gerry and the Pacemakers.

This song has been used nationally by radio stations and has now topped the lockdown chart as its words and meaning represent the current situation across the world.

Some sang, some clapped, some cheered but it doesn’t matter how you show your appreciation. Our local keyworkers were filled with emotion and it helps them go on with the tough road ahead.

Next week on Thursday at 8pm is about raising the town’s spirits and celebrating everyone who is also isolating, staying at home or helping in any way they can. We want people dancing in homes, gardens and streets while maintaining a 2m distance from others of course.

We are in this together and by staying together we can beat this.

What song would you come out and dance to?

Did your street sing You’ll never walk alone? Let us know in the comments if you have a suggestion for what song we could dance to.
