The final webinar in our Schools Health and Wellbeing series for the 2025-2026 school year was delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, who spoke about their Well Schools programme which helps schools create a whole-school culture that supports wellbeing, physical activity, and positive outcomes for pupils and staff.
What is a Well School?
A Well School is one that puts physical and mental wellbeing at the heart of its culture. The Youth Sport Trust’s Well Schools programme provides schools with a structured framework, tools and accreditation pathway to improve pupil and staff wellbeing, increase physical activity, and support wider school improvement and attendance outcomes.
Schools can use Well Check, a free online self-review tool that creates a tailored development plan, supports school improvement and Ofsted priorities, and provides access to relevant support. Schools can also progress to Well Schools Accreditation, which recognises commitment to wellbeing, provides resources and networking opportunities, includes peer review, and lasts for two years.
