7 simple ways you can get moving this summer

Are you struggling to get motivated to get active this summer? Here are a few simple ways in which you can incorporate some fitness into your busy schedule.

The summer weather makes it easier to be active. The trick is to find something that fits into your schedule. Check out these seven ways to see if one suits you.

Cycling to work

Cycling is a great alternative mode of transport whilst at the same time introducing more exercise into your day.

Track your footsteps

By setting goals for yourself every day to reach a certain amount of footsteps may motivate you to become more active and moving more through going on more walks for example. You can also do this through the app active 10 which helps to set goals for your fitness.

Go on walks

A 10 minute walk every day is recommended as it is a great way to relax and also lift your mood whilst doing so. This could be a great activity for the whole family to participate in.

Couch to 5K

Couch to 5k is a gradual way in which you are able to increase your stamina to different running distances in which you complete over a 9 week period 3 times a week. View a timetable you can stick to and listen to weekly podcasts as you go from couch to 5k on the NHS website.

At home work out videos

The recommended weekly amount of exercise is 150 minutes per week averaging out to 20-30 minutes per day. The NHS website has work outs that are 10 minutes long for you to fit in where you can. and here is where you can find them.

Simple exercise routines

Simple exercises are an easy way in which you can get moving more this may be through sitting exercises, balancing exercises and strength exercises. Try these simple stretches
