Cooking, confidence and creativity: setting up an afterschool cooking club

March saw the return of the fabulous Eatwell Team to our Schools Health and Wellbeing webinar series, this time to share ideas on setting up an afterschool cooking club and covering planning, resources, recipes, safety and funding.

Why start a cooking club?

A cooking club offers pupils a valuable opportunity to develop essential life skills in an engaging and practical way. Through hands-on activities, they learn how to follow recipes, interpret food labels, and build confidence in the kitchen. More than just cooking, it creates a supportive and enjoyable environment where children can explore new foods, understand seasonality, and discover the benefits of healthy eating. Ultimately, a cooking club helps foster independence, curiosity, and lifelong healthy habits.
