Lunchboxes, portion sizes and food policies

Providing healthy, balanced lunches is an important part of supporting children’s wellbeing, learning, and development. A clear lunchbox and portion size policy helps families understand expectations, promotes consistency across the school, and encourages positive eating habits from an early age.

Back in June we looked at the rationale for introducing a lunchbox policy in one of our Schools Health and Wellbeing webinars. In this session we suggested ways in which schools can work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure children have nutritious lunches that meet their needs throughout the school day.
